Notice...

By filing a 'JOINT' Petition, you give up certain rights that you would otherwise have IF the case was DISPUTED:

  • A right to appeal the divorce decree

  • You no longer need the formal Notice of Entry of Decree of Divorce (It otherwise triggers deadlines for an appeal, but since you are filing joint, you are waiving the right to appeal).

  • A right to request the judge to make certain findings of fact and conclusions of laws relating to your agreement in the Joint Petition.

  • Also, you waive the right to move for a new trial.

  • ***These are typically not a concern to people who agree to a simple and un-contested divorce.
